The Active Charity crew has been working with charitable organizations since 2005.  Our primary role has been to act as "feet on the street" in organizing events by finding donors and participants to attend our events.

Rookie of the Year Award By JDRF

Active Charity members Jason Skeoch and Dan Michie were surprised and honored to receive the “Rookie of the Year” award by the Greater Bay Area Chapter of JDRF on behalf of their organization.

Loren Lingenfelter, incoming chapter President and good friend of Active Philanthropy gave the award to the group in recognition of their fundraising efforts at the 2006 Drive For A Cure.  The award was presented during the Annual Research Meeting held at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco on June 28th, 2007.

Our largest event has been the JDRF Summer Classic benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Since 2006, we have helped raise over $1,300,000 in support of JDRF in its mission to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

We have also hosted poker parties in support of the George Mark Children's House as well as the Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland.  In 2009, Active Charity partnered with Ultra Runner Dave Rhodes in his  "100 Miles for George Mark Children's House".

In addition to these more traditional events, Active Charity has also used the "Virtual Challenge" series of local running and cycling events to raise money for specific causes.  These are designed to be one time, short duration challenges that get participants out and moving while raising money.

Active Charity believes that everyone wants to help support worthy causes and that if you host well-run, fun events, people will come back again and again.
